As a parent, the desire to provide the best for my children often leads me to enroll them in expensive after-school activities. However, I find myself grappling with the concern that these opportunities may create a sense of entitlement or privilege in them. While I want to enrich their lives with experiences that can foster their talents and interests, I am increasingly aware of the implications of my choices.
I worry that by affording them these luxuries, I might be inadvertently setting them up for a skewed perspective on what it means to work hard for success. I aim to raise well-rounded individuals who appreciate the value of effort and resilience. Therefore, I am considering ways to balance their involvement in high-cost activities with experiences that promote gratitude, humility, and a strong work ethic.
Ultimately, my goal is to be more intentional in my parenting, ensuring that my children grow up understanding the importance of hard work and the diverse realities of life beyond their immediate experiences.
