Local small business owners in Enfield are reeling after a break-in and vandalism incident that has cost them thousands of dollars and damaged irreplaceable memories. David LaBerge and his wife, who recently closed their store, Second Floor Games, located at the Enfield Square Mall, discovered the devastating scene while in the midst of inventory and relocation efforts.
The couple had been carefully packing up merchandise and preparing to move their products to a new location, Twilight Cards & Collectibles, when thieves forced their way into the shuttered store. The perpetrators not only stole valuable inventory but also caused significant property damage, leaving the owners to assess the full extent of the loss.
LaBerge expressed deep frustration, noting that the stolen items represent years of hard work and cherished memories built with the local community. The financial impact is substantial, as the business was already navigating the challenges of closing one location and transitioning to another. The vandalism has added unexpected costs for repairs and replacement of damaged fixtures, further straining the family-run operation.
Local authorities are investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward. The Enfield community has rallied around the couple, offering support and spreading awareness about the crime. The LaBerges remain determined to move forward with their new venture, but the emotional and financial toll of the break-in has been a heavy blow.
