A former employee of a Las Vegas restaurant has filed a formal complaint alleging the business improperly withheld more than $2,000 from a tip pool. The worker, who was employed in a back-of-house role, claims the restaurant's owners took a portion of tips that were supposed to be shared among kitchen staff and other non-front-of-house employees.
According to the complaint, the tip pool was set up to distribute gratuities fairly among all staff, including those working behind the scenes. However, the former worker says the owners deducted a significant amount before the money was divided, leaving back-of-house employees with less than they were owed. The total amount in question exceeds $2,000, which the worker argues should have been paid out as part of the agreed-upon tip-sharing arrangement.
The complaint has been filed with the Nevada Labor Commissioner, and the former employee is seeking to recover the missing wages. The case highlights ongoing tensions in the restaurant industry over tip distribution, especially for back-of-house staff who often rely on pooled tips to supplement their base pay. The restaurant has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
