Springfield Business Journal: Children's Mercy with Mercy plans December opening for O'Reilly Pediatric Center

Members of the media got a first look yesterday at the O'Reilly Pediatric Center, a joint effort between Mercy Springfield Communities and Kansas City's Children's Mercy. The outpatient facility sits on Mercy's south campus, which already houses the orthopedic hospital and a new emergency room. The center is scheduled to open its doors in December.

The building is designed to bring a full range of pediatric specialties under one roof, so families in the region can avoid long trips to Kansas City or St. Louis for specialist care. The space includes exam rooms, procedure areas, and support services tailored to children and their parents. Officials from both organizations walked reporters through the layout, highlighting features meant to reduce stress for young patients, like separate waiting areas and child-friendly decor.

Children's Mercy has been expanding its reach beyond its home base for years, and this partnership with Mercy Springfield is one of the largest moves yet in southwest Missouri. The center will offer appointments in areas such as cardiology, gastroenterology, and neurology, with more services expected to be added over time. Staffing is already underway, and both groups say they are on track for the planned opening before the end of the year.
