Two California residents have been indicted on federal charges for allegedly running a darknet drug trafficking operation that shipped narcotics across the United States, including into Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The indictment was unsealed on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say the pair used encrypted online marketplaces to sell a variety of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, and counterfeit prescription pills. They are accused of processing orders through the dark web and mailing packages to buyers in multiple states. Investigators traced a significant number of shipments to addresses in South Florida.
The suspects were arrested earlier this week after a coordinated effort by federal and local law enforcement. Authorities seized computers, digital currency, and a quantity of drugs during the arrests. The indictment charges both men with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and operating a continuing criminal enterprise.
If convicted, they face mandatory minimum sentences and potentially life in prison. The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal agencies to dismantle darknet markets that have become a major channel for drug distribution. Officials noted that the anonymity of the dark web makes such investigations complex, but cooperation between agencies in California and Florida was key to building the case. The defendants are expected to appear in court in the coming days.
